Kyoto Style Cold Drip With an Aeropress

Kyoto Style Cold Drip With an Aeropress

Aeropress Kyoto Cold Drip

For this recipe, a temperature of 15°C is suggested, but you can use any room temperature water, as it will be cooled by ice upon enjoyment.

What You'll Need

a water bottle (with the base cut off),
an aeropress,
water,
coffee

Follow these steps:

  1. Assemble your AeroPress. Add a paper filter to the filter cap and screw it onto the Aeropress. Give the paper filter a rinse.
  2. Place 32g of medium-ground coffee into the Aeropress on top of the filter and shake to level. Drop an additional Aeropress filter on top of the coffee grounds inside the Aeropress.
  3. Place the water bottle with the base cut off upside down on top of the Aeropress with the cap cracked just enough to let out one drop of water per second. Place the Aeropress and water bottle on top of the vessel you would like to brew into. Add 500g of water to your water bottle.
  4. Adjust your drip rate. Slowly turn the cap of the water bottle until you start to see drips coming out of the valve. Adjust the flow rate to around 1 drop per second or a little bit less (50 drops per minute).
  5. Experiment with drip rates to personalize your brew.
  6. Once your brew is complete (approximately 2.5hrs), you can enjoy it immediately over ice or store it in the fridge for up to a week.
